Excel Conditional Formatting Data Bars based on Color -
i cannot find way change color of excel data bar based on value. current formatting options permit different colors based on positive/negative values. i'm using excel 2010.
i have color of data bar show 'red' if value if between 0-0.3, 'yellow' if value between 0.3-0.6, , 'green' if value if between >0.6.
would appreciate info people share.
thanks,
tb
data bars support 1 color per set. idea length of data bar gives indication of high, medium or low.
conditional colors can achieved color scales.
what describe sounds combination of two, not exist in excel , don't see easy way hack it.
you use kind of in-cell "chart" popular before sparklines came along. use formula repeat character (in screenshot it's character g formatted marlett font), , use conditional formatting change font color.

for nicer "bar" feel, use unicode character 2588 regular font.

edit: not every unicode character represented in every font. in case the unicode 2588 shows fine arial font not excel's default calibri. select fonts accordingly. insert > symbol dialog find suitable characters.
