sql server - Excel Pivot Creating MDX instead of DAX against Tabular Cube -


i have deployed tabular ssas database using visual studio server. trying connect excel database using pivot table ("pivottable report"). works fine seems run extremely slow.

interestingly decided profile ssas tabular database on sql server see sort of query excel pivot table generating. shock creating horribly complex , inefficient mdx statement. strange thought dax should generated against ssas tabular default?

after doing bit of searching around, seemed "power view report" can created through excel option. after building report , running it, performance fast. profiling server again found dax being generated instead of mdx expecting.

the question can change connection string or setting somewhere can use standard excel "pivottable report" shown below ssas tabular database generates efficient dax query opposed inefficient mdx query?
